Monday from Ned---Honduras

This is what Pastor Ned posted on his Facebook page:

Day 1 in Copan Ruinas Honduras. Heading out into the village today I was full of anticipation not knowing what to expect. We drove over some terrain that I am surprised a vehicle could traverse. We went up, down, and around the mountain terrain and at times there was no room for error lest we end up falling down into the ravines around us. As we entered the village we found the Chorti people installing the first electric lines ever there. They had to bring the poles in - not sure how that happened - dig the holes, run the lines, etc... Another group of men were working at the school cleaning and making a new floor in anticipation of a visitor that was coming. Many were out picking coffee beans while others were working with the beans already picked. WE began to walk from house to house in the village of la Cuchilla talking with and praying with the Chorti people. It was funny - there were no prayer requests asking for stuff or helping to get stuff, most of the prayers they wanted were simple, healing for sick family members, health for their family, and that their harvests would go well. One lady had the most beautiful flowers that she tended around her home. She looked at us and said "You can see God in all of these beautiful flowers around here, it reminds me that He is here." How true, God's creation revealing his nature and character all the way here in Honduras. I continue to find the simple truth after visiting the village today, we really aren't that much different... We all need the cross, we all need redemption and forgiveness, we all need Jesus. The Chorti people were very friendly, inviting us into their homes. They all wanted to pray. They have so little yet they have so much. The children followed us from house to house and I couldn't help but fall in love with their smiles and faces. One little girl had been adopted by a family due to abuse in her home. I was able to share about my adoption with her. My adoption in Christ (Romans 8). I have begun to pray and vision of how we can help in greater ways in this village and others around. How God will use FBC Seminole in a powerful way to touch lives and change hearts. Prayer was a good start, but Christ also provided for physical needs as well. Both Paul and James call for works that are evidence of our faith. There were many mothers and children who were alone, either dad had left them and moved away or had died. My prayer today is what is the vision. I might add that this is only the second visit to this village and they are already receptive to the gospel wanting to hear more and desiring a church where they can worship as a village. Today was full of much walking up and down the mountain, much prayer, and God again proving that when you GO in His name you always leave feeling like more is to be done and feeling very humbled. The Chorti people are very special and like all of us, they need Christ. I end this day thankful for the cross and thankful for Christ's continued work here in Honduras by so many faithful who will go on after we go home.
